It was funded on the 18th June 1988 by President Cav. Giuseppe Barra and it is based on three pillars:
- Il Saggio Editions - Publishing company, which has published more than 300 books.
- Editing of the monthly newspaper ‘Il Saggio – Mensile di Cultura’ (established in 1996) and ‘Il Saggio – Libri, poesia, arte’.
- The association thanks to which, the International Poetry Contest ‘Il Saggio – Città di Eboli’ was designed in 1997 and became one of the most important in Italy.
The Contest ‘Il Saggio – Città di Eboli’ is made of four sections: Italian Language, Vernacular, The Religious one and John. Each section’s winner is awarded with the medals from the Presidents of Republic, the Senate, the Chamber of Parliament and the Pope.
