‘Hospice for Eboli and Friends of Eboli Maria S.S. Addolorata Hospital’ is a nonprofit association established in 2005 to promote building and organising the Residential Centre for Palliative Care: Hospice ‘The Sunflowers Garden’, located in Acquarita, which was opened in May 2007.
Main social objectives:
- Promoting palliative cares’ culture and philosophy;
- Identifying and removing obstacles that delay their progress;
- Increasing awareness within Economics and Politics to allow anybody to access palliative cares treatments and to respect the essential levels of assistance (LEA).
- Assuring the availability of low-cost opium and analgesic medicinal to monitor symptoms and pain.
The association also aims to:
- Spreading the knowledge of clinical, social, practical, spiritual needs of terminal people.
- Explaining the Hospices role, as well as the Integrated Network of palliative cares treatment, which is active in the surroundings of Salerno National Health Service (ASL).
- Promoting initiatives to collect funds to support the Centre.
To prevent saying ‘There is nothing to do anymore!’, the Hospice provides assistance – efficient, however not impersonal and cold-, active and attentive support against desperation, frustration, depression, self-care lost, death fear and help people during sorrow.
